Coach Dan John’s free 97-page text, From the Ground Up, seeks “to encourage people to change the whole modern paradigm of training and get back to the roots of the sport: pick heavy stuff up.” Best of all you do not have provide your name and e-mail address to claim it. Dan is an entertaining, thought-provoking writer with a long competitive career and you should give his blog a read. After all, you probably don’t often get the opportunity to receive fitness/sport performance training advice from a former Fulbright Scholar that teaches religious studies. He is also a former All-American discus thrower that has competed in other sports such as Highland games and weightlifting.
